And yet you'd be fired if you ignored the customer in that situation. Bad analogy.
From my time in customer service, no one particulary minded if I suddenly discovered all sorts of layers of bureaucracy that rude douchebags had to go through. (Yes, then you must fill out these 3 forms, then I will consider fixing your problem. Maybe.) If you want people to treat you with respect, it's only fitting that you treat them the same way.
For the conspiracy theorists, if Gaile doesn't post new info every day, that doesn't mean Anet is hanging around their offices drinking mojitos while playing pick-up sticks with their collective buttcheeks. Those activites are reserved for me, thankyouverymuch.
I guess I'm grateful that we get what we do, having dealt with EA "*** the customers" games and other companies like that.

Agreed... and Oh my god, has anyone else used EA Link? Damn, I actually appreciate Steam now and I've stopped playing BF2142 and C&C3 because of it (not to mention that if Warhammer Online is on it, I'll not be playing that either)
So? plans change, it states that that is the case on the back of the box... hell, the entirety of the Nightfall manual became useless fire paper on release, especially with the interface changes...
and I've so far heard people say that they wouldn't get factions or even Nightfall, and funnily enough, they did... We all love GW, we all truely love ANet for what they've pulled off with GW and the lack of a monthly fee, and just be honest, your going to get GW:EN because you simply know that it is going to be good, and just like me you want more GW content because most of us aren't stupid enough to pay to play a game unless it has some real substance now that GW has shown us that its possible...
besides that, its buyable simply for the fact that you DON'T need to play it day in, day out, because it doesn't cost anything to play it
wow, telling me that I'm going to buy GW:EN. you're worse than a car salesman O.O you're right, most of us aren't stupid enough to pay to play a game unless it has some real substance. and substance is something guild wars is lacking in lately. I can still play what I have and thats fine and dandy. However since I am not stupid, as per your post, I won't make any further monetary investment into guildwars at this time. ie, no, I will not buy GW:EN.
And for the record, my point wasn't about any plans that changed. it was about something that was hyped as two separate things (Sunspear skills as part of hardmode, and then new PvE skills as part of GWEN) when in fact they've apparently been one thing all along, even though it was stated otherwise before... only one set of PvE skills, and you have to buy GWEN to get it.

yes, and as i stated, things change...
hell, we're lucky to have some of the changes that have come recently, and for some I'm greatful that they have taken the time to implement some of the ideas that have come, like hard mode, extra storage, etc... things that they never needed to add, but did because the community asked and the finally got round to doing it
besides, its not ANet that get your money, they already have money from NCSoft, its NCSoft that have to recoup money through sales for putting money into ANet and then producing/packaging/shipping the game... So please, don't tell a salesman (and i am) how the system works, if your not sure, nor not right... ANet have, all crap aside, done a good job and I will be getting GW:EN, and GW2 for that matter, but I'm under no false impression that my money goes directly to ANet, as they've already had thier money and mine goes to NCSoft, simple as that

yes, some of the changes have been good, though minor. and I appreciate having extra storage on my currently existing account, but that doesn't mean I have to buy GWEN.

not sure what this part has to do with my post... I said nothing about how any systems work, just simply that I won't be buying GW:EN. But just since you brought it up, how well ncsoft does with current guildwars products does affect how much funding they give to arenanet for future projects, if any.
I think anet started great with guildwars, loved the game, just don't like where it is headed recently and won't be investing any more money into it. what is your problem in all of this?
Thank you for the info about the Sunspear skills, Gaile. I wasn't aware of that before.
Gaile's ability to keep cool despite all kinds of comments is commendable. There's this kind of superstar aura that might be getting in the way of people seeing the human being behind the posts and the avatar.
Gaile is only human. Just because you've paid a little bit of money to buy access to the game and don't have to pay any more doesn't mean you're entitled to have the whole A-Net team bowing at your feet. It certainly doesn't entitle anyone to go laying into Gaile on a personal level!
Some folks need to realise that sh!t happens... That sometimes you are certain something is going to go ahead, tell people that it is going to go ahead.... then something messes up and it can't. If you want to whine about it then keep it to yourself... because if anyone personally messed up such that it couldn't go ahead.... then it isn't anyone you could be talking to here, and it certainly isn't Gaile.
Then again, she probably knows who is responsible.... so if we all ask Gaile nicely to deliver a kick up the backside (or at least a concerted grumble) to the people who are not delivering the skills.... she might be kind enough to oblige.

No problem, you just haven't said what yo don't like, just that you don't like where they are headed... which is where? pray tell
Besides, as i said, the number of people I've read or heard that aren't gonna buy this or that and then do buy the chapters, I just hold it all with the highest of sceptsism...
but like I said, things change, plans change and maybe they've decided to bundle in the sunspear skills in with GW:EN, however, i actually doubt it, due to GW:EN having nothing to do with Elona, from what I've read about it, its all set in Ascalon and northern Tyria, not southern Tyria and the desert where Elona is
So if PVE skills are going to be released with GW:EN then its only a couple weeks away.
Next couple of weeks
New PvE skills based on Sunspear rank
Near future
Bow skills and Mesmer buffs
Soul Reaping change (Gaile Talk)
Single elimination rounds for Automated Tournaments
PvP skin rewards for Automated Tournaments
Windows Vista Certification
Future
Guild Wars Eye of the North (3rd quarter of 2007)
Guild Wars 2 (2009/10)
Inscribable armor in Factions and Prophecies 2
Guild: The Venerable Truth [TvT] The Venerable Alliance [TvH] [TvL]
Profession: R/

Anyone that does that we throw them out in my industry
I find it alarming we haven't had any more info on this, and if it is true that Gaile is purposely avoiding an unnamed fansite because of 1 or 2 trolls then she really needs to grow a thicker skin and carry on dealing with the normal reasonable questions.
That said, it's fully within their rights to clam up and say 'screw it, you want info, be polite to us rather than insulting jerks'
Fair enough.... It's also fully within the rights of existing GW players and potential buyers who might read these threads to say "Screw it, you want my money, give us more reason to support your product"
Sticking with the OP...yes, i too would like to know please
I sure don't hope this is on one of the "you need to know basis" things, where we don't know because we don't need to know

So...when people are rude and disrespectful you would tell their target to "grow a thicker skin"? How about people just not be jerks? Lets not be blaming the victim.
Poor Gaile is like the punching bag ppl use when they are frustrated. Instead of complaining with the actual dev team (as far as I know Gaile doesn't program stuff, or very few) they take it out on the most public part of Anet.
Don't take me wrongly I too can't wait for these skills to come out so that I'll have (I hope) an easier time bashing hard-stuff. But so far it seems people manage hard mode quite well with their own brains and cooperation, so just lay the hands off Gaile will ya?

It's the devs' job to design, it's Gaile's job to relate to the community and take their responses to the devs; that's why she is the public part of Anet. If people took out stuff on the devs directly, they'd probably be too busy putting up with people and too irritated to care about making the game.
This said, maintain a topic and don't wander into a long debate about Gaile; it's not needed.
